ABOUT
Culturally Naija was founded in 2016 by a group of Nigerian Americans to address the needs of the Nigerian community. This organization is committed to the broader issues facing the Nigerian community in the United States and embrace Nigerians from all walks of life, regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds. Culturally Naija is dedicated to positively enhance the image of Nigerians in the U.S. and address the negative stereotypes of Nigerians in the American media.
VISION
Nigerians are the single largest contemporary African immigrant group in the United States. In addition, the city of Houston is home to the highest population of Nigerians outside of the country. A parade led by Culturally Naija and WeLEAD, celebrating Nigeria’s 57th Independence, will serve to promote, and advance the Cultural, Civic, Social, and Economic Welfare of Nigerians. The Nigeria Cultural Day Parade in honor of Nigeria Independence Day is expected to attract spectators from across many demographics and cultural backgrounds, while featuring participants from across the greater Houston Metropolitan area. The parade will create a positive atmosphere of cultural awareness and promote tourism to the Houston community regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds by highlighting the positive contributions of Nigerians.
Celebrating Nigeria’s 57th Independence will serve to promote and advance the cultural, civic and social welfare of Nigerians. Attendees will witness a rich cultural experience through a street-wide celebration.By joining the parade, we can accomplish to promote the richness of Nigeria together.
